let me note what i meant by the title.Thank you so much for coming here and reading my posts.I appreciate your patience and your priceless time to read my posts.Ok,now all the formalities are over.Bear with me for my language issues,i am not a native english speaker.
Buying a Royal Enfield is not really a difficult task but a deserving one.Altogether it is a different matter.I was determined to deserve my STD350.Bought in december 2009.I waited for my bullet to reach puberty and when the odometer showed 1000kms I decided that it's about time to make her on a date,a date with AAA(air, asphalt and adrenalin).
The urge to go on a solo trip kept lingering in my mind for a long time.
I was itching to take my new bullet on a long ride for quite some time. The opportunity came knocking during the end of december 2010.I had a couple of routes in mind, mix of highways and some winding mountain roads, and definitely chill weather.Ooty was the first choice, but since I had already done a trip on my car.
Paul and Peter calling me to nelliyampathi which is near to palaghat. Our friend Tijo is having an estate there and Paul &Peter were there.I was told to catch a airbus from trichur. But I had different plans in mind.
Preperation for the trip involved going to the mechanic to get all the brake lighting fixed, replaced the front brake switch, and a trip to ekm to get new gloves.Got one of those day-night helmet visors, which is amazingly good in the night.
Filled up the tank with speed petrol, packed my dresses in the back pack, and went to sleep with my alarm set to 4am.
It was sharp 5am I decided to leave as i had to cover quite a long distance after tiring night shift.I had forgotten my bike key in the office and one of my colleague who was very generous got that to me.On my way I ensure that the air pressure in the tyre as required.Morning dew and fresh air gave a very different sense of joy in my heart as i was eager to explore a new place once again.
Since i left early I didn't waste any time in the morning traffic,as soon as i reached trichur palaghat highway i stopped for tea as it was time for warm up in that cool morning breeze.Masala dosa, cripsy vada's with lot of delicious sambar and i carried on.
As i entered palaghat highway i realized that turns in enfield are not easy as it looks, but the ride on it gives you feel of a 'king enjoying his majestic ride'.Many said that enfield gives you that endurance even though you have quite good load on it and wanted to test that myself. So this time I had lugguage of 4 people as well as weight of me adding up to easy 90kgs and for my surprise i could touch 100km/hr twice and the entire ride was very comfortable with no back aches or strain.Trust me every money spent on it was worth it.
Finally i reached the estate at 1pm.The estate was beautiful surrounded with greenery all around and i am welcomed with cool lime juice. That itself made me feel that am in heaven and everybody would agree with me that the life in city is any day worst compared to life in the midst of greenery. We had some good chicken for lunch and all dozed for a short nap.We were up to 6pm to witness the beautiful sunset with sky changing its colour to dark blue, red, orange etc.Soon clouds opened up and it rained flowers.Apart from all the above to add smell of plants and wet soil was more than what was required for a perfect holiday. One more thing to add was the born fire, though it rained heavily for our surprise the fire was on for close to an hour and that was quite unbelievable but that was fact. That evening we spent some good time as a team chit chatting, sending scraps to friends in orkut and drinking beer before dinner.Soon we had our yummy meal and crashed.
Next morning we took off for a walk in the estate itself after some yummy break fast. The estate was quiet big with different plantations and a small stream passing through. Not to forget we were greeted with leeches during our walk in the estate who attempted to give us love bites.Soon we realized that we were shot of time and had to get back to our rooms.
The place we stayed was simply superb and beyond my expectation.Ride was just mind blowing with RE.
Next day morning i got up early had some tea.The beauty of that misty morning in that mountain can't be expained in words, all fun was over. It's time to return,we had icecreams to celebrate. After few nice photographs all my bags are packed and i am ready to go,a song from the fim Nagashatangal(manjal prasadhavum nettiyil charthi, manja kuri mundu chutti)playing from my ipod.
Solo riding from trichur to nelliyampathi and back hmmm.....this ride was much needed for so many reasons.
